South Mountain Freeway, designated as State Route 202, will yield 22 miles of freeway and is the largest highway project in Arizona State history.  The highway will provide a direct link between the East and West Valley to bypass downtown Phoenix. The goal of the project is to increase mobility around Phoenix and alleviate congestion.
