The Transtec Group Wins ACPA National Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement

The Transtec Group is a Gold Winner of the American Concrete Pavement Association’s National Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement.

The Transtec Group is a Gold Winner of the American Concrete Pavement Association’s (ACPA) National Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement. ACPA presented the award to SH99 Grand Parkway, Segments F1, F2, and G in Houston, Texas in recognition of its outstanding design and construction.  Transtec led the pavement design and construction support efforts of this project.

As pavement engineering specialists, Transtec’s engineers optimized the pavement for reduced cost and increased performance. Transtec also assisted the contractor, Zachry Construction, throughout construction of the highway. Transtec’s concrete temperature and maturity monitoring system, COMMAND Center, was implemented to monitor the internal concrete temperature of mass concrete elements during construction.

SH 99 Grand Parkway is a 184-mile highway circling the Houston metro area. It aims to improve mobility and increase travel capacity around the city. Segments F1, F2, and G are a 38-mile stretch of the highway built with one million cubic yards of concrete.

Zachry Construction was the managing joint-venture partner of Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders, the developer and lead contractor responsible for the development of SH 99 Grand Parkway Segments F1, F2, and G.

For 28 consecutive years, the ACPA Excellence in Concrete Pavement awards have honored quality concrete pavements constructed, rehabilitated, and preserved in the United States and Canada. The awards program encourages high-quality workmanship in every concrete pavement project and serves as a forum for sharing information about highly successful projects.
