Roads & Bridges Magazine Features Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway Project Photo
A photo of paving work on Pecos Road in Arizona was featured in Roads & Bridges magazine. The Arizona Department of Transportation is widening Pecos Road to accommodate two-way traffic and keep traffic moving during construction of the South Mountain Freeway.
The 22-mile South Mountain Freeway is the largest highway project in Arizona State history. Transtec provided an optimized pavement design for the project. Our innovative pavement design resulted in increased performance and saved more than $60 million.
The freeway will provide a direct link between the East Valley and West Valley and a much-needed alternative to Interstate 10 through downtown Phoenix. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2019.
